Day one

I’m marking today as day 1 of a year’s project to create a portfolio that can match the quality of some of the amazing work I’ve seen around the web. To be more exact I have until Mid-March 2015 to reach the super impressive, and incredibly intimidating, level of work produced by people like this and this. I have a very specific template for the portfolio I want to create in mind – 42 images, spanning character design, backgrounds and life drawing. Each image needs to be as close to that level as possible.

I am no where near where I need to be, and I only know in the broadest of terms what I need to do. I need to devote as many hours as humanly possible to getting my work in to shape, and I need to apply those hours correctly. I don’t know what correctly is yet. I expect I’ll change my mind several times on what that is over the coming months.

This post is a statement of purpose. A line in the sand. In a year I will be able to look back on this post, and see clearly what I had set out to do, and be able to measure myself against it. Cue frenzied drawing.
